National Hispanic Heritage Month is the period from September 15 to October 15 in the United States, when people recognize the contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans to the group’s heritage and culture. At MSPCS we celebrate throughout the month by learning about different countries and their cultures. Each class learned about a specific country and performed songs and dances for the school. Students worked on various projects and gave many presentations. In addition to classroom work, Miss Jenny works with grades PK3 through 5th grade all month in Spanish class. Some projects and material from this year include:
PK3 & PK4: Colombia
They learned a few facts about Colombia and learned the song ¨La Vaca Lola¨ as a class.
Kindergarten: Spain
They learned several facts, and soccer chants.

First grade: Colombia
They did several group projects + cumbia (a folkloric rhythm and dance). They also learned many Spanish dances from a Zumba instructor who visited their classroom.
Second Grade: Venezuela
They learned many facts and the song¨Leo Leo Lee¨ and dance to perform at Town Hall.
Third Grade: Cuba
They did various projects from art class and singing and ¨La Vida es un Carnaval¨ song and dance at Town Hall.
Fourth Grade: Bolivia
They did various projects from art class.
Fifth Grade: Various Countries
Each student prepared a poster board presentation on a Spanish-speaking country and presented an activity to the class. They shared an interesting fact that they learned (from their own or from another student’s presentation) at Town Hall.
