Lent, A time of reflection

Serving the world with various mission challenges

It’s Time for Fish Banks!

Each year at this time we pass out the One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) fish banks to MSPCS children in kindergarten through fifth grade during Bible class, and each year MSPC collects them on Palm Sunday. Elementary school students can return their fish bank on Palm Sunday at church or to the elementary school office through Friday, March 23rd.

Gracie the Fish is the main character in a series of stories, The Adventures of GracieEach Gracie the Fish story was written to help children learn why it is important to help others with our gifts. Teachers in the preschool will share a simplified version of this year’s Gracie the Fish story with their students. Parents are asked to encourage their preschooler to add their own offering to the OGHS collection in the preschool office. Preschoolers who donate through Friday, March 23rd will decorate a picture of Gracie the Fish which will be added to our Sea of Kindness.

Fish banks are a fun way for children to live out their faith during Lent as they participate in the OGHS offering. It’s wonderful to know that our coins and dollars will bring relief to people when they are experiencing a crisis.

Upcoming MSPC Lenten Activities just right for kids!

Sunday, March 18th, children in Children’s Church will be encouraged to give through the new Gracie the fish story. Children can take home a fish bank to begin their collection for the OGHS offering.

Sunday, March 25th, Palm Parade begins at 10:45 AM. Children return their fish box and enjoy the Palm Parade. Children will parade in at the start of the Children’s Message. Information about how the use of OGHS offerings will be shared during Children’s Church.

Make Placemats for Children in Haiti – As part of our Lenten Challenge, children of all ages can make placemats for other children during Sunday School at 10:00 AM or following the 11:00 AM service in Fellowship Hall. This is a great opportunity for all ages to get involved in this mission. Check with your teachers for more information on making placemats at home as well.

Sunday, April 1st, join us for Easter Sunday. Egg Hunts begin at 10:30 AM.

*Sunday school for all ages is offered every Sunday at 10:00 AM.

Blessings,

Ms. Catherine
