Clubs begin Tuesday, September 4, 2018. Registration is due by Friday, August 24, 2018.

CLUB DESCRIPTIONS

Robotics | Monday, 3:15-4:15 | Grades K-5
Explore Robotics is a STEAM program designed to inspire kids to pursue futures in Science & technology with our fun Maker Kits that enhance mechanic, art, and engineering skills. Students design their own remote-controlled hydraulic arms, learn to harness the power of pressurized carbon dioxide with Yeast Mobiles, build electric & solar-powered race cars, and experiment with gears & pulleys in our Tinker Sets. Students keep their inventions and proudly share their projects with family, and friends. *This club has a $20 supply fee.

 

Active Games | Monday, 3:15-4:15 | Grades 1-5
Join Mrs. Lugo for a variety of fun and engaging games and team activities that will keep you on your feet!

 

Minute to Win it | Tuesday, 3:15-4:15 | Grades K-5
Join Miss Jenny for fun games based on the popular tv game.

 

Drama | Tuesday, 3:15-4:15 | Grades 2-5
If you love to act then join us for Drama club with Mrs. Lugo! Including loads of fun improvising games, and short scripted pieces as well as giving students a chance to write and perform their own short play!

 

Deejay | Wednesday, 2:15-3:15 | Grades K-5
Taught by the Art Cortex. Work with the top leading DJ software, DJ controllers and MIDI controllers in the country. Students will learn how to sync, read, and analyze music, create loops, and special FX.

 

Yearbook | Wednesday, 2:15-3:15 | Grades 3-5
If you enjoy photography, graphic design and writing, this club is for you! This course is taught & designed by Liangy Calli to develop students’ skills in yearbook production. Students will learn the basic principals of publishing. They will be assigned specific roles to create pages for our yearbook, this includes layout design, writing copy, captions and headlines, digital photography and some desktop publishing.

 

Newspaper | Thursday, 3:15-4:15 | 3-5

If you like to do interviews, research current trends, review books and movies, inform on the latest sports, and be creative come be part of the journalistic team of the “Waves Report.” Working with Mrs. Fernandez, students will print their own newspaper (or two) by the end of the quarter.

 

Science Wiz | Friday, 3:15-4:15 | Grades K-5
Students will dive deep into one of the following scientific concepts: electricity, inventions, sound, energy, physics, light, DNA, magnetism and more!  Students will receive their very own ScienceWiz™ kit to explore fundamental scientific ideas through hands-on play and activities and conduct experiments, many of which they will bring home to share with family and friends. * This club has a $20 supply fee

Clubs MUST BE PAID IN FULL by Friday, August 31, 2018. * Please note that Monday clubs will begin on September 10th as September 3rd is a holiday.

Registration is not confirmed until you receive a confirmation email from Luisa. All clubs are subject to cancellation if minimum enrollment is not met.

The Miami Shores Presbyterian Church School After School Clubs allow children to explore their passions and develop new interests. Our diverse clubs are an extension of our curriculum and allow the students to further their learning in areas like LEGO Robotics, creative writing, STEM, chess, various art clubs, oceanography, DJ, masters art, yoga, Zumba, karate, basketball, foreign languages, among many others. Each quarter we offer new and exciting clubs, with four club sessions a year each one lasting a full semester.
